VALENTINE'S DAY MUSLIM HARAM WELCOMED
"The Spirit of celebration has Christian elements and deeds were mixed with immoral acts are contrary to and forbidden by Islam," this is the last word Fatwa Committee of the National Council for Islamic Affairs Malaysia convened for the 71st time, almost six years ago related Valentine Day.
"Islam does not reject anything that comes from the West, especially if it relates to compassion," said Director of Islamic Advancement Department of Malaysia (Jakim), Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz.
"We accept and celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day are reminded to love our mother and father," he said while inaugurating the launch of Campaign Monitor Snare Valentine's Day on Friday.
But he said Islam was also at the same time will reject anything that comes from the East Waima even if it conflicts with the principles and practices of Islam.
"He is not a problem or issue any origin welcome the arrival celebrations and Keraian something, but practice or ritual performed to celebrate a particular day," he said.
Wan Mohamad said Islam is not a religion that restrict or impede for devotees of affection but what is blocked immoral acts committed while stating that affection.
"If we love the people, it is not immoral but if we hold a relationship outside of marriage, was immoral. Was the difference," he said.
He said he believes not only Islam, other religions also place limits and ethics to be adherents obey.
He said for Valentine's Day, so obviously he meraikannya lead immoral practices.
"That is why the fatwa was issued to limit and advise Muslims not to welcome Valentine's Day with a view of the historical and current realities, everywhere else it is synonymous with immoral practices," he said.
In comparison, Wan Mohamad said a fatwa also decide if Muslim colleagues carry out their welcome celebration day, Muslims are able to attend.
But if the social events that serve alcoholic beverages, "the show was broken and we could not be present," he said.
"We can also celebrate our friends who celebrate their religious festival but we complicated to engage with religious ritual because it had gone into the issue of faith," he explained.
He said this explanation needs to be done so that Islam is maligned by saying that religion can not celebrate Muslim colleagues not celebrate Christmas, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Hari Gawai and so on.
"We just can not engage with other religious rituals. Social event, we gather with those who are not Muslim, it's no problem.
"Our leaders also attend majlis suchlike. Fact Mufti-mufti we attend to the tea party which was recommended by a neighbor who welcomed Christmas Day," he said.
Launch of Campaign Monitor Snare Valentine's Day is to bring Muslims, especially the youth not to celebrate the day greeting Beloved Monday.
"Islam encourages his people to make the fabric of something everlasting love. Expressions of affection is not a minute to a day and a day for a year. He is a lifetime," said Wan Mohamad
